The present cathedral of Tagbilaran traces to a church built by Fr. Valero San Pascual, OAR, while the bell tower to Sanchez, OAR. The church's interior and exterior have undergone renovations. During the early 17th century, the church in Loboc became well known as a pilgrimage site because the saintly priest Alonso de Humanes was buried in there.
